How to Do Standing Leg Curls

  1. Adjust the standing leg curl machine so that the pad rests just above the heel of the working leg.
  2. Grip the handles for balance and maintain an upright posture.
  3. Flex your leg by pulling your heel up toward your glutes while keeping your upper body still.
  4. Pause briefly at the top position, then slowly lower your leg back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch legs.

Commentary

The standing leg curl isolates the hamstrings and requires a bit more balance than the seated or lying variations. Perform the movement in a controlled manner and avoid swinging your leg to maximize hamstring activation.
