How to Do Standing Leg Curls
- Adjust the standing leg curl machine so that the pad rests just above the heel of the working leg.
- Grip the handles for balance and maintain an upright posture.
- Flex your leg by pulling your heel up toward your glutes while keeping your upper body still.
- Pause briefly at the top position, then slowly lower your leg back to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch legs.
Commentary
The standing leg curl isolates the hamstrings and requires a bit more balance than the seated or lying variations. Perform the movement in a controlled manner and avoid swinging your leg to maximize hamstring activation.
